The origin of the Trades and Crafts fair
dates back to 1996 when the Association
of Craftsmen in Križevci organised
the first fair, which was attended by
30 exhibitors-producers from Križevci.
Since then, the fair has grown in size
and with the joint effort of the organisers,
has profiled itself as the most
important Country trade event. In 2008,
the fair officially became a regional
event and is listed in the calendar of
most important fairs in Croatia. As the
fair is traditionally held in the month
of wine, or ‘christening’ of must, one
of the popular events is the great stroll
on St Martin’s day, when must is christened
according to the Križevci Statutes.
The fair successfully combines
economy and tourism through part of
the programme brought to visitors, including
a fashion show and hair show,
sports competitions, various educational
workshops and funparks for children,
and tasting of food and drink from the
region.
