For
the fifth consecutive year, the renowned festival of the traditional a
cappella music, Aklapela, will take place in Dubrovnik from 8 to 10
April 2016. The Aklapela Festival fosters traditional a cappella
singing, which has been recognized by UNESCO as the world intangible cultural heritage.
The Festival will welcome numerous acclaimed a cappella groups from different parts of Croatia known as klapas,
which will perform under the direction of the renowned artistic
director, Maestro Josko Caleta. The performances will take place at some
of the most amazing venues in Dubrovnik, such as the recently renovated
Lazareti, just outside the city walls, and St. Dominic’s Church. All
through the weekend of the Festival, the visitors will have the
opportunity to enjoy the performances by some of the best Croatian
klapas on many corners and streets of the city, so make sure to join us
from 8 - 10 of April 2016 in Dubrovnik.
