Dubrovnik and Split nominated for World Travel Awards

One of the most prestigious world organisations for handing out tourism awards «World Travel Awards» has recently published the nominations of countries and continents for this year. Among some fifty categories in Europe, there were 12 Croatian representatives in eight categories.

Dubrovnik was nominated for two awards – a leading European tourist destination and a leading destination for cruises, while a few Dubrovnik hotels are candidates for awards in hotel categories. Along with Dubrovnik, the only nomination Croatia among its cities was received by Split, for an award in the category for leading European ports for cruisers.
The annual «World Travel Awards» are called the «Tourism Oscars», and they have been handed out for 18 years for accomplishments in all segments of world tourism and the travel industry. This year more than five thousand organisations and companies from more than 160 countries worldwide were competing in more than 900 categories.
With nominations for a leading European tourism destination and leading destination for cruises, Dubrovnik found itself in the company of Barcelona, Dublin, Istanbul, Paris, Prague, Venice, Vilnius, Athens, Oslo, Lisbon and others. Among the nominees from Croatia we also have the Dubrovnik hotels ‘Dubrovnik Palace’ (in the categories for leading European hotel, leading conference hotel and leading European resort), the ‘Rixos Libertas’ ( in the categories for leading conference hotel and leading European casino resort ) and ‘Lešić Dimitri Palača’ ( in the category for leading European hotel ).
From other nominees we also have the Split hotel ‘Le Meridien Lav’ (in the categories for leading European casino resort and leading European conference hotel) and Hvar`s hotel ‘Adriana’ (in the category for leading European boutique resort). Apart from nominations for leading hotels in Europe, these hotels, along with around 15 others from Croatia, have been nominated for «World Travel Awards» on a national level, as leaders in various different categories in Croatia.

Last year the ‘Rixos Liberas Dubrovnik’ got recognition for being the leading European casino resort, while the leading European hotel recognition was won by the ‘Ritz Paris’. The leading European destination award went to Turkish Istanbul.
